Communists prey on each other

Communists leaders in Purulia affiliated to the CPI(M) (i.e., Communist Party of India Marxist, also known as CPM) have been cautioned not to venture out of their houses at night because Maoist communists affiliated to CPI(M) (Communist Party of India Maoist) (wow!) might kill them.

Night alert for Purulia leaders (The Statesman, Jan 03,2006)

Top CPI-M leaders of Purulia district committee were cautioned by a veteran party member today to not venture out of their houses after dark in view of the Maoists’ threat to their lives.
Police officers in the district said they were keeping a watch on the movements of senior CPI-M leaders and security for some of them had also been beefed up. However, police officers refuse to disclose the names of the leaders who were being given this special protection cover.
PWG Naxalites, before their merger with the MCC and the formation of the CPI (Maoist), had reportedly drwan up a hit list of 12 persons, including Rabindra Nath Kar who was killed in Bandwan, along with his wife, last week.
